Build and approve a prospect list

Build a prospect list from a LinkedIn search, a Sales Navigator list or saved search, or a CSV, then review and approve it.

Every list Sam builds lands as pending in Data Approval. Nobody is contacted and nobody is added to a campaign until you approve the list and, later, approve the campaign launch.

Step 1: Build the list

Pick the source that fits.

A LinkedIn people search

  1. In Claude or ChatGPT, describe who you want. Example: "Search LinkedIn for VPs of Sales at SaaS companies in Chicago."
  2. Sam shows a preview of the search. Check it.
  3. Tell Sam to run it. Nothing runs until you approve the exact preview.

Good to know:

  • A search returns 500 people by default, up to 2,500.
  • If you paste a LinkedIn search URL, Sam uses that URL and ignores other filters.
  • Searches use your LinkedIn account's search allowance.
  • Ask "Is my search finished?" to check progress.

A Sales Navigator lead list or saved search

You need a Sales Navigator account for this.

  1. Ask Sam: "Show my Sales Navigator lists." Sam lists your lead lists, account lists and saved searches.
  2. Ask Sam to import a lead list by name, or to run a saved search. For saved searches, paste the full search URL from Sales Navigator. A saved-search name or ID can return fewer people than LinkedIn shows.
  3. Sam shows a preview. Approve it to start the import.

Account lists hold companies, not people, so they can't be imported as prospects.

A CSV file

  1. Ask Sam: "Give me a link to upload a CSV."
  2. Open the link and sign in to Sam. The CSV upload opens.
  3. Upload your file.
  4. Ask Sam: "How did my CSV upload go?" to see rows added, duplicates, skipped rows and errors.

Each row needs a name, email or LinkedIn profile URL. For best results include first name, last name, title, company, LinkedIn URL and connection degree (1st, 2nd or 3rd). Connection degree decides how Sam routes each person in a campaign.

Other sources

  • Employees at a company: "Find people at Acme with 'sales' in their title."
  • Warm introductions: "Find warm introductions in my network." Results are capped at 50.
  • First-degree connections: "Import my first-degree connections who are founders."

Step 2: Review the list

  1. Ask Sam to show the people in the pending list, or open Prospects in Sam.
  2. Remove anyone who isn't a fit. Example: "Remove Jane Doe and John Smith, they're not a fit." You can undo this in Data Approval.

Step 3: Approve the list

  1. Ask Sam: "Approve my pending list."
  2. Sam shows the people and gives you an approval link.
  3. Open the link. On Review this action, check the list.
  4. Click Approve.
  5. Go back to Claude or ChatGPT. Sam finishes the approval.

Approving a list does not contact anyone. Your list is now ready to attach to a campaign. See Create and launch a campaign.
